10 facts about Nate and I.

I do solemnly swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth SO HELP ME!

1. I don't typically talk politics (usually) but...Nate and I love Ron Paul.

2. Nate and I are spiritual (not religious). We consider ourselves to be Christian.

3. We looove comedy. Anything funny or quirky we enjoy.
" Macgrubie don't play like homie, and homie don't play like that."

4. Our idea of a good day is being at home, drinking coffee and watching Dr. Phil.

5. On Saturdays we like going to the farmers market. Well...I think Nate does. If he doesn't I could never tell.

6. One day we will own our own business or business'.

7. This whole "all natural" thing is VERY new to us. We were changed by the birth of our daughter and still have a lot of growing/learning to do. I can say that its made us closer. Making decisions for the good of your family is really special. Before we had Ella we didn't care so much about how our household was ran. Now...we talk about things, study and make informed decisions about everything.

8. Nate has a Chinese name. I'm not allowed to broadcast it but...he does.

9. We are socially liberal in our home. We believe in tolerance, love and compassion. We will raise our daughter the same way. We choose to be non-judgmental of others choices and believe in human rights.

10. We hope to live off our own land someday. We want to become a self-sustaining family and enjoy the fruits and abundance of this beautiful earth.

4 Month Update.

Personality: Awh. She has started talking. She'll look at me straight in the eyes with the most serious look on her face and just begin talking. She just coos and coos.

Sleep: This chick! She has a bath at 8:30pm and is in bed 9pm. She sleeps ALL NIGHT!...That's right! All night. This all could change in the blink of an eye but I'm enjoying it while I can!

Health: She is getting taller! I think that she is extra healthy too but I may be bragging...it might be because she is all natural! Not so much as Tylenol has entered this girl body!

Eating: I wish that there was more to report on this and her health but lets face it...I have raised a super baby!

Appearance: Uhm. Did you see her pictures?!

Wait. A year ago...Really?

My...my how time flies! It seems like just yesterday I was getting home from work and taking a pregnancy test for fun (I did this often..). Only Clearblue had a little surprise for me! Who'da thought it! Let's talk initial reactions; I laughed and Nate well...he was a little freaked out!

Things that I have learned since then; doula's make the world go round (I know a few that are angels in disguise), wine is good (after pregnancy), a happy husband makes for a great life AND people love giving advice! Seriously. People love hearing themselves talk...(including me-I can admit it). I have been given advice from family, friends/enemies, strangers in the grocery store and coworkers. I have had people with children and without children tell me how to; raise, breastfeed and hell push the little angel into the light. I have had grown men talk to ME about childBIRTH. No joke.

If I have one more person tell me that my babes feet are cold, that she has gas or that I should walk out of the room when breastfeeding, I will do nothing. That's right! Nothing. I'm so used to it. Nothing that a little smile can't fix. So for you; hormonal, sweet angels called "pregnant." Cheer up buttercup! It only gets more interesting from here.

So...Here is to another year of being a clueless, learning along the way Mama!

Your baby wears a necklace?

Well...sorta. It's definitely not for fashion (although she does look pretty cute). Her necklace is actually for teething. No, she doesn't chew on it and no she can't choke (I get asked that a lot). It's actually a necklace made of Amber.

Amber is derived from trees it's considered "fossil resin" that is a "living stone." It's a wonderful, natural and safe remedy for teething babies. The stone actually contains natural succinic acids that prevents the pain and discomfort that would often have parents reaching for over the counter drugs.

"In order for Baltic amber to perform its analgesic function, amber teething jewelry should be worn comfortably and safely against the child’s skin. When the skin warms the amber, it begins to exude its healing properties providing not only pain relief but a calming effect." -Amber Artisians

We purchased the necklace at the first signs of teething (drooling). Ella was drooling everywhere and seemed a little uncomfortable. After we put on the necklace her drooling stopped, she was sleeping better and seems more comfortable. So...your baby doesn't have to be uncomfortable and irritable!

This is the shop that I purchased Ella's necklace from. They were great!

I get by with a little help from my friends..

We met some friends at the park this past weekend and had a blast. The weather was so nice. It's just beginning to cool down around these parts.

We met Jason and Shannon in our Natural Childbirth class when we were pregnant. They have proved to be great friends and I love spending time with them. Birdie and Mack N' Cheese are bound to be buddies! Shannon and I really get each other and I love her to death...

SRQ Chalk Festival

Nate and I have been enjoying family time. It seems like every weekend we are doing SOMETHING. I love it. The Chalk Festival was amazing. Next year, I think we will go on a Sunday after all of the murals are complete. I love my little family. We have such a good time together. Oh! Don't mind the belly skin above. Kind of embarrassing but...it was a sweet photo!

Ella's First Halloween

My First Halloween!

We decided to take Ella around our neighborhood (mainly for the pictures)!

Not gonna lie...Ella is kind of a big deal around our neighborhood. We live around alot of older people and they just love her. Our neighbors are great and they treat this little family really good! We love them.

This is Anna. She had been waiting for us and we didn't have to ring the doorbell. She squealed when she saw us coming and ran out the door!

This is Mr. Frank. He loves this girl. She got a special gift from his house! A stuffed bear and a quarter towards her college fund.

All in all, it was a great night. We went home, passed out candy, ate pizza and watched my all time favorite Halloween movie...LOST BOYS!

C'mon! Keifer Sutherland....Corey Haim?

I hope that your Halloween was a great as mine!!!!!!

-Mama Bird

Dear Bird,

You make me so stinkin happy! I have never known this kind of love before. Your personality is by far the coolest! You have such a laid back demeanor and your giggles never get old. I am having a difficult time living "in the moment." I get so excited about the future and your development, that I often have to remind myself that I need to slow down. You aren't going to be a baby forever and I need to enjoy these moments. You have already changed so much! You're my chubby little Buddha baby! I love seeing your interaction with your Papa. He loves you so much and the way you look at him is indescribable. He holds you over his head and you scream laugh. You sound like a little pterodactyl.

This past week you found your toes. Every time you grab them, you look around wandering where they came from. It's so cute.

I love you, Birdie. I love being your Mama. I promise to live everyday strving to be a better me. A better Ma. You're my heart.
